Florida State: End of the Bobby Bowden Era

Fans and media react to the news that Florida State University and head football coach Bobby Bowden will be parting ways at the end of the 2009 season. Offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher will take control of the program after the bowl game. FSU's gradual decline over the last decade has created a wedge in the program and community over Bowden's fate.

- It's kind of solemn.
FSU student:
- It's a sad day.
FSU student:
- It's a pretty historic day.
Brad Dalton, WTXL Sports Director:
- There is a sense of what's going to happen and unfortunately I think it's not the news a lot of Seminole fans have been anxious to hear.
Keith Cottrell, Former FSU Punter:
- Coach Bowden built the program. There wouldn't be Florida State without him. The man can decide to step down when the man wants to step down.
FSU Student:
- The guy deserves a little more respect for having been here for so long.
Cottrell:
- I feel personally the people who are complaining so much are the "Johnny Come Lately's" that haven't been FSU fans through the lean times. They've only been there through the good.
FSU Student:
- I think it's about time he needed to leave.
Cottrell:
- That man can stand on the sideline until God takes him to heaven.
AM 1270 WNLS (Report):
- Bobby Bowden will coach his last game at Florida State and he will do so in the bowl game.
FSU Student:
- I thought he was going to be here for another year so it was kind of shocking.
Dalton:
- He would have loved to have come back and maybe tried to turn things around next season and then hand things over to Jimbo on his own terms. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's going to be happening that way.
FSU Student:
- They just went about it the wrong way. They just should have let him stay one more year and then let him go on his own terms.
FSU Student:
- Everybody likes him here. I don't think he went out the best way he could've gone out. He could've gone out a lot better with a lot more respect but for the time is and the way the situation is, it is time for him to leave. I agree.
FSU Student:
- I know that the 'Noles used to be really big like in the 90's like we used to be really good.
FSU Student:
- Our system just needs to get together.
FSU Student:
- It needs to get back on track. It needs to get back on track.
FSU Student:
- It's going to be a new start. We'll see what happens.
FSU Student:
- Anxious to see what's going to happen in the future.

- As long as my family is happy that's the main thing to me. I'll go out and make a lot of talks now. Tell everybody how good I was.
