Larry King’s next move, MLB Network?

June 25, 2010 - Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA, United States - epa02223325 Talk show host Larry King (C) shakes hands with New York Yankees player Mark Teixeira (R), prior to the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Los Angeles, California, USA, 25 June 2010. The last time the Dodgers played the Yankees was six years ago in 2004.

"I told Bud Selig... that I would go to MLB in the drop of a hat..."

Giving the nation barely enough time to catch its breath after the announcement that he's ending "Larry King Live," the show's namesake drops more than a subtle hint that he'd like his next move to involve sports.

Talking to Ben Maller on Tony Bruno's radio show, King said that in addition to spending more time watching his kids' little league baseball games, he'd like to draw his next paycheck from Major League Baseball:

"I would do sports tomorrow. I told (MLB Commissioner) Bud Selig today, he's taking my kids to the All Star Game, that I would go to MLB in the drop of a hat."

"I'd like to do 'Costas West.' They've got 'Bob Costas East' doing interviews in games so if they need a guy... They don't have a west coast facility. They'd have to set one up or lease something. I'll talk to Bud at the All Star Game. You know it's owned by all the owners. That would be something that would definitely interest me because baseball is my avocation."

That's in addition to his other avocation: the perpetual enjoyment of being Larry King.
