"I think that Tony gets a little bit emotional..."

A former employer weighed in, albeit briefly, on Tony Allen's confrontation with OJ Mayo over a reported unpaid gambling debt.

Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge reacted to the situation on WEEI radio:

"Let's just say that I'm not too shocked. Tony's a guy I think the guys on our team learned to not mess with too much.

I think that Tony gets a little bit emotional when he gets involved in those card games so I'm not too shocked."

Both players confirm that there was a dispute on the plane but haven't gone into the details of the matter. The Grizzlies proceeded to ban all gambling activities while players are on "official business" with the team.

The Grizzlies play the Jazz Friday night, a team that has had a longstanding gambling ban because of the obviously destructive consequences.

I've watched NBA players lay down cash at the foul line at the end of a morning shootaround to make things "interesting" during the grind of an NBA season.

20-somethings with insane amounts of disposable income can't be policed all the time but the NBA should at least acknowledge the issue with a league-wide ban on player gambling while their employees are "on the clock."
