South Carolina fans swarm the court to celebrate the Gamecocks victory over Kentucky and first win ever over a top ranked team.

The Wildcats received a phone call on Tuesday from Barack Obama to congratulate them for their fundraising efforts toward relief in Haiti.
When the conversation swerved to that night's game and Obama was told that the opponent was South Carolina, the president replied, "You should be all right."

Motivation for South Carolina to upset top ranked Kentucky?

30 point scorer Devan Downey: "I'm scared to say anything. That's the president.
Somebody might be knocking on my door in the morning."

"Giddy fans came up to South Carolina athletic director Eric Hyman, handing him dollar bills to pay the anticipated fine the SEC levies for swarming the court."

The University of Georgia loses its mascot, UGA, to a heart attack two days before the football team hosts Kentucky at Sanford Stadium in Athens. The program hopes for a fresh start on the football field and in the dog house in 2010.

Georgia football fan:

It made me sad. I'm a pet owner and I was like, "God," because that dog stands for a lot.

Georgia football fan:

He signifies the university more than just athletics even.

UGA VII was buried alongside the 6 mascots that came before him inside Sanford Stadium before the 2009 game against Kentucky.

A game that did not have a live bulldog between the hedges for the first time since 1956.

Former Georgia student:

I was in the band for four years and so the old UGA, he sometimes snapped at people but this dog was just so sweet. He was just like a good mascot, you know?

Georgia jumps out to a 14 point halftime lead. It would not last. Four 2nd half turnovers give the Wildcats their first win in Athens since 1977.

Georgia football fan:

It was sad. You know in 32 years we hadn't been beaten by Kentucky and it was bad. It might have reflected the game. Every school needs a mascot at every game.

Georgia football fan:

It'll be neat to see what the new one looks like.
